On Sunday 27th June 2010, I flew Malaysian Airlines London Heathrow Terminal 4 directly to Kuala Lumpur. A Boeing 747.
The food ordered was vegan, vegetarian, which I find to simple and rather boring for me, as opposed to an Asian vegetarian, which I find very tasty.
I did some good work on the 12 hour flight, thanks to my small Samsung notebook and watched a few films.
I took this picture the first morning from my hotel room at the Prince Hotel and Residence
I didn’t sleep too well the first night, as always. Partially because of the jetlag, but also the stress I always feel the day before running my KM programme.
It’s around 7am. Such a beautiful sky. This next pic too.
I do like the architecture of the hotel buildings.
This next photo is also from my hotel room window, looking down town into Kuala Lumpur.
The room was pleasant. It’s a five star hotel. But the best thing was free high speed internet.
But the most startling and amazing pictures, for me, are of the ‘Petronis Towers’ Such beauty in their own right. This pic was taken on the street just outside the hotel.
And of course it would not be KL without traffic
I do like these two following pics, although they do not convey enough of the magic I experienced at the time. The two shots were taken from a road bridge that connected to the Pavilion shopping mall. When I looke to one side, I saw a stream of white headlights, and when I turned around I saw a stream of red tail lights. It was great street art!
In the shopping mall, I am always impressed by the natural herbal and drug shops. Across Asia, the doctors are more interested in your lifestyle, the whole you, and preventing disease, as opposed to the normal western doctors who specialise in fixing things after the symptoms appear. I think we need both approaches working together.
Why is it that I drink in Europe brown tea, normally an english breakfast tea, with milk, and when I am in Asia, I live on green teas without milk. So refreshing too. It must be pure habit?
I always happily settle for rice and green vegetables with a pot of green tea.
And here are a few shots of the hotel and surrounding buildings
The funny thing is, in Asia there is a very popular smelly fruit called the Durian. You either will love it or hate it, I am told. Well I have never seen this before, but the fruit is actually banned in the hotel room. This sign is at the ground floor lifts!
The KM Programme was a great buzz for me. The people I met were so polite and joyful. We had lots of great discussions and we all learned much more together. Many of the delegates were from Petronis too. I do look forward to meting and working with them again. Several will keep in contact with me through my website, blogs and Facebook. That’s great. I made some new friends and fellow KM practitioners!
And so its back to London five days later. I am scheduled to go back to Kuala Lumpur and run the same KM programme again, in June 2011.
My next trip to Asia to blog will be in four weeks time, when I run a 5 day KM Programme in Jakarta, Indonesia.
On the flight back, I watched a great movie. I do not know the title, please add it as a comment to this blog, if you know the title. It’s the story of the 1996 World Rugby Cup in South Africa with Nelson Mandela. I strongly recommend it.
I left KL at 10am on Friday 2nd July and arrived back in London same day at 4pm.
But now, I must finalize my KM Master Class for 13th July in London. Let’s hope this gorgeous UK sun keeps shining.
